First Impressions: The Driveway as Arrival

A driveway is the first chapter of the villa, and most are written badly — too wide, too grey, too obvious. We design ours as a sequence: a narrow entrance that opens, a curve that frames the house, a final reveal.
Granite cobblestone in a fan pattern slows the car and softens the sound of arrival. Italian cypress, planted in pairs, marks transitions without ever forming a wall.
Lighting is buried at ankle height in bronze cowls, so guests see the path, not the source. The villa itself stays the brightest thing in view.
Drainage before beauty
Andalusian rain arrives all at once. A driveway on any gradient needs channel drainage at the threshold and a permeable base build-up, or the first serious October storm delivers the hillside to the front door.
