Spa Rituals: Private Wellness on the Terrace
Plunge pools, cedar saunas and the case for a wellness suite in the open air.

Indoor spas are dark, expensive and used twice a year. Outdoor wellness, properly designed, becomes a daily ritual.
We pair a 12°C stone plunge pool with a Nordic cedar sauna and a quiet shaded recovery deck — the three temperatures the body asks for in any contrast cycle.
The materials are honest and almost monastic: cedar, basalt, raw linen. There are no screens, no music systems, no smart controls. Only what is needed, beautifully made.
Siting the three elements
The sauna, the plunge and the recovery bench should sit within about eight metres of each other and out of sight of the main terrace. Privacy is what turns the installation into a habit; a sauna visible from the dining table is used far less than one tucked behind planting.
Common questions
- Is an outdoor sauna practical in southern Spain?
- Very. Mild winters mean an outdoor cedar sauna and cold plunge can be used year-round, and outdoor siting avoids the ventilation and moisture problems of an indoor installation.
